Hello Everyone! I have been busy crafting away again! I am totally loving these challenges. The creativity is just flowing when I have a focal point (challenge theme) Diggin' it? Before I get to my creation, I will share.. my husband was in the Navy for 6 years. He was a Seabee. For those of you who don't know what that is the Navy has "two sides" the water side (fleet, sailors) and the land side (seabees). Seabees are the ones who deploy to areas that have been affected by natural disasters and they help rebuild. They are "Construction" type workers. Equipment Operators, Welders, Electricians, Mechanics, etc.. But they also go to war zones to hold down the camps and assist the Marines and Army. My husband went to Iraq for 8 months.. it was the longest 8 months of my life. I cherished every phone call and when I would hear bombs and mortars explode in the background he'd say, "I need to take cover. I love you." and hang up. Those minutes before he'd call again felt like years. Every military wife earns her ribbons and metals too. Even if there is no ceremony to honor her achievements. So without further a do, here is my project....
So for this card I started with CC Designs SugarPlum Emma. I started by printing her sitting on her bench on 80# card stock and coloring her with my Copics R83 & R85. I wanted her to be pink and white because Trevor (the boy sailor in a previous post) is in blue and white. I used my Cuttlebug to emboss the layers of white in the background and the lacey oval die cut to frame Emma. The embossed hearts are cut from Spellbinders Classic Heart dies. I used We R Memories Sew Easy Twine to wrap the side for a little more color and printed the sentiments with my printer and punched them out using Stampin' Up Word Window and Modern Label punches. I used a little bit of Stardust Stickles on her hair ties and buttons for a little glimmer and finished of the inside for your sailor with hearts and a sweet *missing you*.
I will be entering this card into the following challenges:

Love the layered whites with textures. Awesome! I can only imaging how awful that must be to be away from your hubby and carry that fear for his safety. I don't know how you do it. Big hugs to you and your family.
